Other
Much of OPP’s work includes facilitation of large and small scale events, meetings, planning sessions and research groups with older people and professionals in the public and voluntary sectors; and enabling the active participation of older people in these processes. Examples include:
- A one day summit, involving around 150 people, to map a collective vision for improved mental health and wellbeing for older people across London (resulting in the Spotlight on London report).
- Research groups with older people from the Bournemouth and Poole area who have been experiencing social isolation (run on behalf of the Social Exclusion Unit, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) focused on gathering and feeding back views on issues related to exclusion, service provision and quality of life.
- The Everyday Seminar Series in 2002-03 explored key issues, challenges and opportunities for improving services for older people, practitioners and local communities based around key themes and underpinning principles of the NSF.
